This past weekend, the Hardcore Cycling team traded the Chicago skyline for the rolling hills of Galena, Illinois. Our mission? To explore the gravel roads and soak up the scenery in this charming corner of the Midwest.

The weather gods were definitely smiling on us, delivering picture-perfect fall days with crisp air and sunshine. ☀️🍂 We set out with high hopes and a thirst for adventure, ready to tackle whatever the gravel roads threw our way. Thanks to our new friend (whose name we sadly forgot to ask – if you’re reading this, shout out!), we discovered some challenging climbs and scenic backroads.

And of course, no trip to Galena would be complete without a visit to the Chestnut Mountain Resort ski hill. Yep, a ski hill! We couldn’t resist the urge to go down the slopes on our gravel bikes. It was a wild ride, a bit terrifying, and a whole lot of fun. 😂

Our Galena gravel adventure was a reminder that sometimes, the best experiences come from unexpected detours and chance encounters. We conquered some challenging terrain, made a new friend, and created some unforgettable memories.

A huge thanks to the friendly Galena cyclist who turned our wrong turn into the right ride! We’ll definitely be back for more!
