Last month, Chicago’s Polish cycling clubs came together for a poignant event: the one-year memorial bicycle ride for Dariusz Borysewicz. Our hardcore cycling group was proud to join the community on September 21st, starting from Miami Woods in Morton Grove, IL.
Despite pre-ride anxieties about the unpredictable weather, the day turned out beautifully. It was a truly nice ride, a powerful gathering that served as a beautiful way to honor Dariusz’s memory and celebrate the enduring camaraderie of the Chicago cycling community. It’s moments like these that remind us why we clip in.
We owe a huge and sincere thank you to everyone who organized this moving and seamless event. Your dedication to preserving the memory of a fellow rider, and your effort in coordinating such a successful day, made the experience special for us all.
This memorial ride, coming late in the year, traditionally signals the close of the main cycling season here in the Midwest. With the colder weather starting to creep in, it’s time for some well-deserved rest and maintenance.
But don’t get too comfortable! We’ll be training hard through the off-season. Keep an eye out—you know where to find us. See us on the roads next season!
